Weather

Santa Marta enjoys a warm, tropical climate year-round, with average daytime temperatures between 28–32°C (82–90°F). Food & Drink

Santa Marta offers delicious Caribbean flavors, famous for pescado frito (fried fish), coconut rice, patacones (fried plantains), and refreshing limonada de coco. For local eats, try Lulo Café Bar, Ouzo for Mediterranean-Colombian fusion, and Donde Chucho for excellent seafood. Vibrant street food, like arepas and fresh fruit, is everywhere.

Trendy cafes like Ikaro Café or Café Bonsai suit digital nomads with great coffee and WiFi. For drinks, La Azotea rooftop bar and La Brisa Loca hostel offer friendly atmospheres and ocean views. Vegetarian and vegan options are increasingly available, but menus still focus on seafood and meat.

Tipping is customary, around 10% if not included in your bill. Many places accept cards, but street vendors and smaller spots often prefer cash.

Horse Riding through Jungle with Local Lunch

Horse Riding through Jungle with Local Lunch

MANUAL

At the start of the day we pick you up in Palomino, either at your accomodation or if you come from somewhere else we will send you a meeting point. With our trusted motortaxis we get you to our farm. You get an explanation of our project and we will explain you how we ride. We get on the horses and make a beautiful trip to nature. We will pass our neighbours land, go on the old trails used by indigenous people (and most probable see some on the way). We enjoy a swim in the gorgeous river. Around midday we have a lunch at a local farm, and see how they live. We will head back to the farm and finish the day! We work with rescue horses, choosing us means giving these animals the best life ever! We cannot accept people over 90KG, there is a maximum weight the horses can carry (20% of their body weight), and we work with local mountain horses which are not the biggest breed. But they are strong and the most useful in the terrain we are located.

The Native Expedition - Sierra Nevada (4 days path Of Waterfalls)

This project was started by a group of peasant families who have decided leave aside activities with a negative impact on the environment (like intensive agriculture and livestock) and work in tourism. These families saw that the place what has always been their home is a paradise of landscapes, biodiversity and cultural experiences. And now they want to show this paradise, and everything it offers, to the rest of the world. This trek is outside of others tourist treks saturated with visitors, wildlife full, ancient rainforests, impressive waterfalls, friendly people and stunning views of the mountains and the Caribbean Sea. Of course, to get to the most beautiful places requires great effort, hiking along steep slopes, grass fields, forests and mountains. As such, it is necessary to be in a good physical and mental condition. You will be rewarded at the end of each day, when we will be welcomed, eat and sleep in the peasants houses where we will have a cultural exchange.
