Reaching Buenos Aires is easiest by air, with direct flights available from major hubs in the Americas and Europe. The main airport, Ezeiza International (EZE), is about 40 minutes from the city center, and an affordable airport shuttle or local taxi can bring you into town. For regional travel, long-distance buses are comfortable and connect cities across Argentina and neighboring countries.
Trains are limited but can be used for local travel within Buenos Aires. International ferries operate from Uruguay (Montevideo, Colonia). Early spring (September 12–19) features mild weather, ideal for digital nomads who want to work remotely from cafes or coworking spaces, with little risk of travel disruptions.
Buenos Aires has a temperate climate with four distinct seasons. Summers (December to February) are hot and humid, while winters (June to August) are mild and cool. Spring (September to November) and autumn (March to May) offer pleasant weather, making these ideal times to explore the city.
From September 12 to September 19, you’ll experience early spring with average highs around 18–21°C (64–70°F) and cooler evenings. Rain is possible, but storms are uncommon, and extreme weather events are rare at this time. This weather is perfect for exploring Buenos Aires’ vibrant nightlife, arts, and outdoor adventures, as well as annual festivals and city tours.
Buenos Aires is famous for its juicy steak (asado), empanadas, and Italian-influenced dishes like pizza and pasta. Don’t miss local favorites such as choripán (grilled sausage sandwich) or medialunas (sweet croissants) with coffee. Malbec wine and Fernet con Coca are must-try Argentine drinks.
For great value, try El Preferido de Palermo or Don Julio for steak, and El Banco Rojo for inventive street food. Cafés like LAB and Full City Coffee House offer excellent coffee and free Wi-Fi. Palermo and San Telmo neighborhoods have cozy bars and vibrant food markets like Mercado de San Telmo.
Tipping 10% in restaurants is customary but not required. Vegetarian and vegan options are increasingly available, though menus still lean meat-heavy. Special promotions are common, especially at mediodía (lunch).
